STAC Applications for the company of 2013-2014 will be available online starting on January 21st, 2013, and at the Herricks Middle School and High School guidance offices starting on January 24th.
STAC Live will be held at Herricks High School on February 1st, 2013, periods 7, 8 and 9 (from roughly 12:30 to 2:30). The presentation is approx. half an hour long and the same presentation is made each of the three periods.
Application materials are to be submitted on Wednesday, February 6th, 2013, beginning at 2:40pm in Room 105 at Herricks High School. Enter the building to the left by the auditorium: there will be signs, and STAC students will be available to help you in this process. It is preferable for students to submit their applications in person at this time, but we will be accepting applications the entire week beginning on February 4th. There will be bins in the Middle School and High School Guidance office for application submissions. The final deadline for all applications is by 2:40pm, February 8th, 2013.
APPLYING - GENERAL INFORMATION
All students applying to STAC must complete an application and submit either a portfolio or an audition video depending on the applicant’s discipline. A student may apply to STAC in multiple disciplines, and must submit the appropriate portfolio and/or audition video for each. Students only need to complete and submit one application regardless of the number disciplines they choose. The following are audition disciplines:
- Acting
- Art (painting, sculpture, drawing, etc)
- Dance
- Filmmaking
- Music
- Voice
- Photography
- Writing
STAC APPLICATION
Download the application here. Follow the attached directions on the application carefully. You must submit your application the week of February 4th, no later than the afternoon of February 8th. Applications can be submitted t the Herricks Middle School or High School Guidance office, or, preferably, on February 6th in Room 105 beginning at 2:40pm. Applications will not be returned.
PORTFOLIOS
A portfolio of work is required for the Art, Photography and Writing disciplines. Three (3) pieces and only three pieces of work are required. Work can span mediums and/or styles. As an example, if you are submitting for writing, you could provide a short story and two poems, or three short stories, or a non-academic essay, a poem, and a story, etc. As an example for an art submission, you could provide a drawing, a painting and a pastel piece, or three drawings, etc.
Place all the portfolio items into a clasp style folder, and be sure to write your name on it. We prefer that you send us copies rather than originals. Do not send sculpture or 3D pieces — rather, photograph these sorts of works. Be advised that multiple photographs of one sculpture are permissible, and count as one portfolio item. Originals will be returned by February 15th; copies will not be returned.
AUDITIONS
Auditions are required for the Acting, Dancing, Music, Voice and Filmmaking disciplines. This year we are using video submissions for the audition process. You can submit your audition three ways:
- Include a dvd of your audition with your application
- Write a YouTube link to your audition on your application in the indicated spot;
- Upload a video to our submission system.
You can shoot your video with anything - a webcam, your smartphone, a video camera, etc. Quality isn't the issue as long as the sound is clear and we can clearly see you.
We assume that if you're going to use a dvd or a YouTube link that you already know how to do these things.
If you use the dvd be sure to label your dvd clearly with your name.
If you give us a YouTube link please make sure you write the full URL on the application in the space provided (it will look something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ridS396W2BY).
Our video submission portal is located here: http://www.stacworld.net/video_portal.php
You can upload videos as .mpg, .mp4, .m4v, ,mov, .wmv, or .avi file types.
Please label your file with just your name with no spaces and the file extender - as an example: "yourname.mp4."
If, for a good reason, you cannot submit a video audition, please email us info@stacworld.net and we will try to work something out, but due to tight schedules we cannot guarantee you a live audition.
Please bear in mind that we have a lot of videos to go through, so try to keep things around 3 minutes in length (the exception is for filmmaking). A long video WILL NOT HELP YOU GET INTO STAC. Keep it around 3 minutes.
There are specifics for each type of audition. Click the links below to see the specifics.

Extra Materials
Please do not turn in resumes, bios, etc, or any material beyond the application and the asked for portfolio/audition materials. Such items will not be considered.
Notification of Acceptance
Applicants accepted into STAC will be notified by mail, as will applicants not accepted into the STAC program. Letters should be mailed on or around February 18th.
This may seem like a lot of information and work, but STAC itself is a lot of creative problem solving and work so it is apt that the application process is somewhat similar.
In a nutshell, this is what you have to do:
- Download and fill out an application
- Put together either an audition video or/and a portfolio and submit it
- Hand in your application and portfolio at the high school - room 105 - on February 6th
- If you can't make February 6th, then submit it to your school's guidance office by February 8th
- Sit back and wait for a letter...
